Schedule
Brisbane Jinen Karate is a contact karate style that emphasises control and discipline. The contact is firm contact that teaches students the need to be aware of areas of their ability that need to be improved. Full force contact and lack of control are not tolerated. This is a club that respects its students' ability and the need to enjoy their karate. It is not a club that is focussed on financial gain and progression without ability.
The karate style is based on Kyokushin, Szlagowski Karate Association and Jinen Jitsu.
We welcome all students of all ages, gender and abilities.
Our minimum age for the open karate class is 7.5 years of age. Seniors are most welcome.

Flexibility & Fitness
All Brisbane Jine Karate classes start with warm-ups, stretching and focus on flexibility. Consideration is always given to the age and health of the students and we are careful not to push the students beyond their limitations. Stretching and flexibility develop slowly but can be enhanced by regular practice outside of scheduled classes.
Each Brisbane Jinen Karate class has a major fitness and stamina component which incorporates flexibility, balance and coordination. As these skills are developed they are introduced to the karate syllabus.
Karate
Brisbane Jinen Karate follows a comprehensive syllabus which has evolved over many many years through our instructors and their instructors. BJK has a traditional approach to training whilst adopting a hard line stance on ability and technique. Students will only grade when they can competently execute what is required within the syllabus for their rank along with the fitness and flexibility components. Students will proceed at differing paces - those that train 3 times a week and practice more will most likely progress more quickly than those that train once a week. Students that can only train once a week we encourage to practice between sessions to keep up.
BJK also welcomes those students who want to train to access the benefits of the flexibility and fitness components but do not wish to undertake the karate syllabus - come and join in anyway.
